For Now and The Future
Profile
As the majority shareholder of The St. Mirren Football Club Limited, SMiSA completed the takeover process in 2021 to become outright owners with 51 per cent shareholding; the next largest shareholder being The Kibble charity with 27.5 per cent. Independent shareholders – many of whom dug deep to help save the Club in past years – hold the balance.
As the messaging had changed from a focus on encouraging fans to become members and help fund the purchase, SMiSA were looking for a refresh of their identity post-takeover.
After presenting several design concepts to members, the feedback collected resulted in an alternative design (the final design) from SMiSA member Jack Paterson of Saltire Graphics.
This was subsequently chosen as the final version by SMiSA members via a second vote and was sent forward for final production.
Circular Shape: The logo is presented in a circle, maintaining alignment with St Mirren’s official logo – also designed by Jack – to create a cohesive image when displayed together.
Black and White Stripes: The famous black and white vertical stripes represent the club’s traditional colours – fostering pride and a sense of ownership amongst all supporters.
Red ‘Flower’ Elements: The red ‘flower – the ‘Hamilton five-petalled roses’ are taken from St Mirren’s club crest and add a strong community link that stretches back to the Great Seal of Paisley Abbey.
Year of Foundation: Including the year SMiSA was established reinforces its history and commitment to supporting the club since 2002.
The completed SMiSA logo harmoniously combines these elements, symbolising unity, pride, and ambition while ensuring consistency with The St Mirren Football Club and its strong local and national identity.
